About the Tour

You're standing at Raffles Place — the pounding heart of one of the most audacious financial cities on earth. A place where fortunes are made and destroyed in real time, where billion-dollar deals close quietly on high floors while tourists pose for selfies on the waterfront below.
This walk takes you from a vault to a wishing well.

On this walk, you'll cross Marina Bay from the colonial granite of the old General Post Office to the feng shui-engineered geometry of the world's largest bronze fountain — with stops at the site of the most spectacular banking collapse in history, a war memorial hiding mass graves under a manicured lawn, and a spiky national icon that makes better sense the longer you look at it.

Singapore manages over three trillion US dollars in assets — more than the entire GDP of France — and most of that moves through buildings you'd walk past without a second glance. The real power in this city is quiet. No logos on the doors. No street-level footprint. This walk makes the invisible visible.
Along the way: the 28-year-old rogue trader who single-handedly brought down Barings Bank, the Queen's banker, from a secret account coded 88888. Two casinos that generate nearly as much gaming revenue as seventy in Las Vegas. A street circuit where Formula One cars hit 200 kilometres an hour before braking hard into a bend that fits one car at a time. A crypto regulatory environment that turned a crypto winter into a Web3 hub. And an island that is, quietly, 25 percent larger than it was at independence.

Your guide is Kenn Delbridge, a Singaporean by choice for over 20 years — and someone with a theory about why this city works that he'd like to test on you.

The walk runs from Raffles Place MRT to Suntec City, mostly flat, almost entirely shaded. One underground section briefly loses GPS — clear audio directions and in-app images will get you through. The Fountain of Wealth at the end is open for walkers until 6pm, so if you want to touch the water and make the wish, start by 5pm.

It always takes two hands to clap. But sometimes, one hand in a fountain is enough.

Tour Producer

I've spent decades with headphones on, mixing TV soundtracks on over 400 documentaries for National Geographic, Discovery, BBC and others. Somewhere between the neon rhythms of nighttime Tokyo & the gentle surf on pristine Bali beaches, I found my sweet spot: using sound to drive narratives.

Now I create walking tours that let you experience Asian cities the way I do: through sound. I grew up in Hong Kong and have been in Singapore for 30 years. Every city has its own frequency and you haven't really experienced a place until you've been sonically immersed while experiencing it in real-time.

I'm an award-winning sound designer, sure, but I'm someone who gets genuinely excited by using the power of spoken words to give true insight to the heart of a city.

What resonates most with me is bringing a city alive for the listener, that they might "Hear. Here." in Asia.

Go on. Take the picture. A spontaneously spitting, 8.6-metre merman-lion is not something you come across every day.

The entire expanse of water was once where the Singapore River emptied into the sea. The Marina Barrage now blocks off the estuary, creating a freshwater re...
